I don’t often come across bands like the Skins, a very young Brooklyn-based act that mixes soul and blues with hard rock guitar. Bayli Mckeithan’s vocals are strong and soulful. She’s backed by riffs that often sound straight from a Sabbath or Zeppelin album. The band, which includes two of Mckeithan’s siblings, ranges in age from 15 to 21. It sounds a little weird but it works. Have a listen here.
The band opens for Jake Bugg and Albert Hammond Jr. (of the Strokes) at the Riv Saturday night.
