A mix of hip hop, pop and jazz, the mid-’90s release of Viva! La Woman earned Cibo Matto critical acclaim. That translated into fairly decent commercial success over two albums. But by 2001, the duo of Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda went on indefinite hiatus.
The two reunited and last month released new material with the album Hotel Valentine, which is decent fun and an updated sound that doesn’t break new ground. You can catch Cibo Matto at Lincoln Hall Thursday night.
