Velvet Underground, Can and other late ’60 and 1970s underground and pop musicians influence the debut of Ultimate Painting. The band is actually a side project of James Hoare of Veronica Falls and Jack Cooper of Mazes.
The self-titled album is good. You can check out these guys at an in-store show at the great Permanent Records in Chicago 6 p.m. on Thursday. Chicago’s Negative Scanner also plays.
On Saturday, these guys return to Subterranean as one of the openers for White Fence.
