Fidlar matures, plays Riot Fest in Chicago

Fidlar’s frontman Zac Carper is talking about his drug addiction in recent interviews.

And in multiple songs on the band’s new album, Too, Carper notes that these weren’t the best of times since Fidlar’s excellent 2013 debut album. In Fact, despite the general party-band aura these guys still create, there are decidedly anti-drug messages (Stupid Decision, Overdose) on the latest album.

Too is a schizophrenic album: Party hard but don’t party too hard (i.e. heroin is bad). As weird as that sounds, the album hums along on it’s best songs (Why Generation, Leave Me Alone, West Coast, Hey Johnny).

Fidlar makes songs that are catchy and immediate. When the band is on, it’s music is really good.

Catch Fidlar at Riot Fest Saturday.
