There is a small amount of charm lost on Courtney Barnett’s new album, Tell Me How You Really Feel. It is replaced with a new maturity and more straight-ahead rock.
Barnett’s guitar has shined on previous recordings but much attention was often focused on her tongue-in-cheek lyrics and monotone vocals.
On Tell Me, she delivers on the guitar playing as well as a great batch of songs.
I’m looking forward to seeing her perform her new material. Barnett plays the Friday night set at Pitchfork festival in July.
