Best new music release: Clearance’s At Your Leisure

Chicago band Clearance’s first album sounded like a lost Pavement record. On the band’s sophomore release, At Your Leisure, the musical scope is widened. It still has that Pavement sound on some songs but also nods to American and New Zealand indie pop from the ’80s and even ’60s psychedelia.

It’s a really wide swath of styles, highly enjoyable and definitely recommended.

The band is playing a record release party at Hideout Friday.
