Mitski’s new album, Be the Cowboy, opens with the emotional slow burner Geyser, setting up the big dance song Why Didn’t You Stop Me.
The album ends with the somber Two Slow Dancers.
In between, there’s whole lot of genre crossing from a truly interesting rising star.
Even following last year’s critically acclaimed Puberty 2, this is a remarkable album and instantly likable.
Mitski has a crossover appeal that will probably draw a bigger fan base with this latest release.
