White Denim plays Chicago, tours new album

White Denim plays such an assorted mix of musical genres on its latest album, Performance, I’m at a loss to give it a single label.

Performance is rock, power pop, glam, funk, blues, prog, psychedelic, jazz and more. I imagine listening to the eclectic coming of age days of FM radio in the late ’60s and ’70s must have been something akin to listening to a White Denim album.

This Austin, Texas, band sounds like T. Rex one track and Steely Dan on the next.

Some of the song highlights from the new album: Magazin, Good News, It Might Get Dark.

White Denim plays Chicago’s House of Blues Wednesday (September 12). It’s an early show with Rotem opening.
