Two years ago, Ty Segall and Ex-Cult’s Chris Shaw put out their first album as GØGGS, a marriage of punk, psychedelic and classic hard rock.
And, man, it was smoking.
On Friday (September 26), the second album from this excellent collaboration is released, the worthy follow-up Pre Strike Sweep.
While the rock and psychedelic is still very much present, this album mostly sounds punk.
From lead track, Killing Time, on, the songs build and explode into riveting sonic blasts.
Think Fugazi, Big Black and Jesus Lizard.
