Mozes and the Firstborn plays Schubas Saturday

Almost five years ago, I was lucky enough to catch Mozes and the Firstborn at Chicago’s Subterranean. It was a smoking set that rivaled headliner Together Pangea.

The Dutch band was touring its fantastic self-titled debut album. Last month, Mozes released its third album, Dadcore, which is a much slower pop offering. It’s a release with some decent songs broken up with short musical interlude tracks. The short pieces, which vary from 7 seconds to 42 seconds, seemed to be a nod to Guided By Voices, an act cited in Mozes press material as inspiration.

As the band tours the U.S. now, the new full songs should complement the great garage music from the debut album.

You can catch Mozes at Schubas in Chicago Saturday. The band plays with Spain rockers the Parrots.
