Son Volt plays Chicago’s Square Roots fest

Son Volt played a great lively set, mixing new songs with old classics, at Chicago’s
Square Roots festival Sunday.

The new songs from the recent release Union flowed well with Jay Farrar’s fabled back catalog. Farrar is sorely underappreciated but he drew an engaged audience for this show.

Closing the set, Farrar played a cover of Tom Petty’s Jammin’ Me, throwing in some additional commentary on Trump.
