Deerhunter, Woods, Big Thief, Angel Olsen made the best albums of the decade

Deerhunter

End of year music lists give us a snapshot of the great art released over a relatively short period of time. In less than 12 months, we discover, absorb and rank the best music heard in a capsule.

Decade lists, on the other hand, allow us to rediscover music and consider how these releases stack up against a broader body of work.

I spent a lot of time going back to my old favorites. As this decade winds down, some albums hold up a lot better than others. And yet, this self-indulgent list is itself a personal reflection of a point in time.

I share this because it’s stuff that I like and I hope it helps other music lovers discover something that may have been overlooked.
