Mint Mile’s Ambertron: Six albums in six days

This is the first of six recommended new indie albums I’m featuring this week.

Ambertron is the debut album from Mint Mile, a project of Chicagoan Tim Midyett. It’s recommended if you like indie guitar rock with moody country and folk influences. It’s a really remarkable album.

Midyett, formerly of Silkworm and Bottomless Pit, gets support from an excellent band that includes members of Songs: Ohia, Shearwater and other notable groups. Kelly Hogan, who sang on Silkworm’s Italian Platinum 18 years ago, adds vocals on this album.

If you like Silkworm and Bottomless Pit, you’ll love this album. If you don’t know either band, this may be a good entry point.

This is one of my favorite albums released this year, and I highly recommend it.

Buy it on Bandcamp.
