This is the second of six recommended new indie albums I’m featuring this week.
Haley Fohr has been performing as Circuit des Yeux, an intriguing experimental folk project, for more than a dozen years.
More recently, Fohr created a fictitious country singer from Tennessee named Jackie Lynn. Jackie released her first album a few years ago, although it was not a traditional country record.
Well, Jackie is back and her new album, Jacqueline, is really good.
Backed by Chicago’s Bitchin’ Bajas and opening with the disco-tinged Casino Queen, Fohr takes us on an interesting journey.
Fohr, an Indiana native, lives in Chicago. And the tale of Jackie Lynn has the Franklin, Tennessee, singer taking a Greyhound to the Windy City, according to her Bandcamp profile.
I saw Fohr performing as Circuit des Yeux at Pitchfork festival a couple of years ago. It was a great set. I look forward to seeing Jackie Lynn live some day.
