I’ve liked War on Drugs since the band’s early days but seeing the band live a couple of years ago really sealed the deal.
Adam Granduciel can really bring it in concert and we can all be grateful that this year he gave us Live Drugs, a selection of cuts from shows recorded over the years.
The album captures that spirit I recall from the summer of 2018, a show that followed the band’s most popular album A Deeper Understanding the year prior.
For all the studio work that earned that and earlier albums critical acclaim, the rawer live recordings are really satisfying.
