The best albums of 2022 so far

Nilüfer Yanya

We’re halfway through 2022 and it’s already a great year for new music releases.

They include the experimental sounds of an international trio Oren Ambarchi, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin, a pair of modern takes on classic country from Wilco and Angel Olsen, a brilliant collection of unearthed Sonic Youth songs, a great pop album from Mitski and an epic collection of songs from Big Thief.

I also love the new Nilüfer Yanya album, the debut from Chicago’s Horsegirl, post punk from Cola and the exciting collaboration of Deerhoof, Konono No. 1 and others who make up Congotronics International.

The albums are listed in alphabetical order by artist.
