Low’s Mimi Parker dead at 55

Mimi Parker, who sang and drummed in the band Low, died this weekend after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 55.

Parker and her husband, Alan Sparhawk, formed the Duluth, Minnesota, band in 1993.

Over much of Low’s existence, the band was known for its “slowcore” indie music style.

Four years ago, Low reinvented itself with a much more intense, distorted and sometimes abrasive sound even as it preserved the harmonies.
