Betty Davis reissues coming in August

UPDATE: There are delays in shipping these albums. Go here for the latest on each title.

In the early to mid-’70s, the brilliant funk and soul artist Betty Davis made three killer albums, her self-titled debut, They Say I’m Different and Nasty Girl.

I’m not exaggerating when I say these are three of the best album of the 1970s across all genres.

Briefly married to Miles Davis, she made influential music that holds up well today.

Every record store visit I make includes a search for her original vinyl. Even reissues of these classics are extremely hard to find.

So here’s some great news: Two of the original three plus another pair of previously lost recordings will be reissued on the Light in the Attic label August 25.

The reissues include the 1973 debut and They Say I’m Different.

Davis, who died last year, recorded her fourth and fifth albums, Is It Love or Desire and Crashin’ from Passion, later in the 1970s but it took decades before they were finally released. Both will be released in August along with the other two and all four reissues will be offered on vinyl or CD.
