Before the Juan MacLean became a popular electronic artist, John MacLean was guitarist for the ’90s post-punk, noise band Six Finger Satellite.
James Murphy, famous for his DFA label and his band LCD Soundsystem, was sound engineer on the road for Six Finger Satellite. He later signed MacLean to DFA.
In 1993, Six Finger Satellite released the abrasive The Pigeon Is the Most Popular Bird, an album that still packs a punch.
Sub Pop, which signed the band way back has now reissued Pigeon.
