MJ Lenderman plays two nights at Chicago’s Thalia Hall

In June, MJ Lenderman played a memorable, fairly intimate show at Chicago’s Sleeping Village just ahead of a festival appearance in Logan Square.

This week, he’s back in town playing two nights at Thalia Hall, a venue more than twice the size.

He was also back this summer for a set with his band Wednesday at Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park.

As a solo artist, Lenderman’s star has been rising over the past two years, and his latest album, Manning Fireworks, is quirky and excellent. His 2022 release Boat Songs is also great.

Unfortunately, both Thalia Hall shows Wednesday and Thursday are sold out. However, he’s expected to be back at the Salt Shed next June.

The Asheville, North Carolina, artist recently contributed to a compilation album to raise money for Hurricane Helene victims. You can buy the album and support the effort by going here on Bandcamp.
