Rising band Hotline TNT just quit Spotify, citing the politics of the streaming services’ Chief Executive Daniel Ek.
Specifically, Ek is investing heavily in defense-tech startup company Helsing.
“The company that bills itself as the steward of all recorded music has proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that it does not align with the band’s values in any way,” Hotline TNT frontman,” Will Anderson says.
The band is just the latest indie act to quit Spotify over the CEO’s investment in Helsing.
Deerhoof, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Xiu Xiu are among bands earlier leaving the streaming service.
Hotline TNT plays Chicago’s Subterranean September 12 and 13.
