Hüsker Dü was a punk rock band from Minneapolis in the 1980s and one of the very best to emerge from the American hardcore scene.
Chicago’s archival label Numero Group plans to release 1985: The Miracle Year November 7. You can preorder now, choosing between a four-album vinyl box or a two-CD set.
The box features a live show at the legendary Minneapolis club First Avenue in 1985 along with a number of other concert tracks.
This feels like a must for any diehard fan but it also isn’t a bad introduction for the uninitiated. The band was killer live.
Some of the songs from the box are already streaming. For instance, Spotify identifies groups of songs under Jan. 30, First Ave. Pt. 1 and Pt. 2.
That January date, by the way, was just shortly after New Day Rising was released. The last album on the seminal punk label SST, New Day Rising has to be considered one of the greatest releases of the 1980s.
