Some band from the 1970s
I had to take some time off from posting, but we are now back full steam.
In the coming days and weeks, I’ll share some of my favorite music discoveries this year.
As I write this post, Bandcamp is marking its sixth year of offering a first-Friday promotion in which it waives fees for the artists that sell through the website, giving more money to the bands and individuals making the music.
In the Red, the debut album by Melbourne’s the Prize, was among the many promotions in my inbox this morning. Check it out here.
The original Bandcamp special Friday offer was a noble gesture during the pandemic when indie bands were struggling because they couldn’t tour and money was especially tight. Check out Bandcamp bands during these monthly promotions or anytime.
It’s still a good thing to do, and I hope people are heeding the call to support bands. As some people still dig out from those awful COVID years, we are heading into a near-term future of economic uncertainty.
Of course, go see those bands live when you can and make sure you visit the merch tables, too!
See you back here and at the shows.
