Craig Finn is back, writing about misfits, losers, drunks, junkies and the occasional optimist.
Finn just released his fourth solo album, I Need a New War, after releasing a series of Hold Steady singles last year.
As he’s done on his prior band and solo releases, Finn sings/speaks through a series of sympathetic short stories mostly commenting on everyday human fuck-ups and hard luck. The often dour lyrics are countered with lively horns, a little synthesizer and backing vocals.
