The intro to Hashish, the first song on Thurston Moore’s latest album By the Fire, sounds like Sonic Youth. In fact, it reminds me a lot of Sunday from Sonic Youth’s 1998 album A Thousand Leaves.
I’ve always been a sucker for those enticing intros from Moore and his former band.
It’s been nine years since Sonic Youth split and, like many other fans, I still miss the band.
I don’t think Moore set out to make the most Sonic Youth-sounding album since his legendary band’s dissolution but here were are. If you love Sonic Youth, indulge.
