It’s Bandcamp Friday, which means most, if not all, the money paid to purchase music on the site today will go directly to the artists who make it. Since early in the pandemic last year, the music market has waived its cut of sales the first Friday of each month. There’s some speculation this may be the last Bandcamp Friday, though the site has not confirmed.

My favorite album so far this year is Since Grazed, the extraordinary release from Chicago’s Eleventh Dream Day (pictured above), which has been making great music since the 1980s.

Another ’80s band, Dinosaur Jr., has had a remarkable run since reuniting more than 15 years ago. This latest album is a testament to that renewed energy and creativity.
Superwolves – Matt Sweeney and Bonnie “Prince” Billy
Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Matt Sweeney collaborated 16 years ago to create the album Superwolf. They finally followed up with this phenomenal new release.
Now – Damon Locks and Black Monument Ensemble
There’s great music coming out of Chicago and the collective Damon Locks and Black Monument Ensemble is among the most interesting.
Chart for the Solution – Writhing Squares
Writhing Squares is a couple of guys from Philly who bring the noise with saxophone, bass, synthesizer and more. It’s an interesting disjointed sound.
