Lily Seabird, Dinosaur Jr., Twisted Teens, Fcukers: New music review

Election Day is the first song released from Lily Seabird’s upcoming album and, oh man, does it rip.

Seabird, who hails from Burlington, Vermont, has released full-length albums the past two years. She plans to put out Lightspheres on Their Way on September 4.

You may think Election Day is about the upcoming midterms but she claims it’s not even about voting. Still, given the fury of this release, it’s hard not to attach the emotion to this consequential election coming up in November.

The song is a scorcher. It’s like Neil Young, PJ Harvey and Dinosaur Jr. rolled into one.

As I’m writing this, she’s released another strong song, Portal to the Past. Check it out here.

Jay, Lou and Murph!

Speaking of Dinosaur Jr., the original trio of Jay, Lou and Murph, also have an album coming out in the coming weeks.

I love the single Several Got Away, the lead track on There Near.

It’s hard to match those first three albums from the mid- to late 1980s but there is something in the song that makes me think this is going to be a good one.

Check out the video here below.

Two in a row from Twisted Teens

Twisted Teens has now released two albums this year. I’m still mulling the first album. In the meantime, here’s the title track Florida Water Blues from the just-released second album from this New Orleans duo.

These guys play a sold-out show at Chicago’s Sleeping Village Friday night.

A Brian Jonestown Massacre tribute from Fcukers

The song Anenome first appeared on Brian Jonestown Massacre’s 2008 album, Their Satanic Majesties’ Second Request.

The song is covered by the electronic duo Fcukers for a Spotify exclusive recently, which I find really interesting. Reportedly Fcukers member Jason Walker Lewis listened to the song when he was a kid and considers it a tribute to his dad.

This is not a plug for Spotify, btw. And you can listen to it here on YouTube.
