Dummy, the Tubs, Squirrel Flower, Effigies: Indie music roundup

Dummy, an indie pop band from LA, has a new album out October 16, do you love the color of the sky?

It’s the first full-length from these guys since the exciting 2024 release Free Energy.

There’s been just one song released from the new one so far, and it’s good.

The Tubs released another song from the band’s upcoming album, Hard Life.

If you’ve read this site over the past year or two, you know that I’m a big fan of these Welsh jangle rockers.

Now and Then is the latest single from the album, expected out September 11, and it’s definitely worth a listen.

It’s notable that both Dummy and the Tubs were earlier signed to Chicago’s label Trouble in Mind Records. The couple running Trouble in Mind decided to call it quits last year. I miss them but I’m also thankful for the great music they released.

Squirrel Flower, the project of Chicago’s Ella Williams, just released the album Say a Prayer to the Gods of Getting Going.

Chicago’s original punks, the Effigies, just released a new song and video, Hallucinations.

A new album, Fire Aim Ready, is expected out October 23, and is being released by Chicago’s long-running Pravda Records.
