Sharp Pins, Twisted Teens, Tubs offer new music!

I love the new song, Live Without Her Love, from Chicago’s Sharp Pins.

I’ve been a little bit on the fence about this band, but this is an epic song.

When We First Met, the latest single from Twisted Teens, is another new song that caught my ear. Raw and sleazy and clocking in under 2 minutes, it is unmistakably the signature sound of this New Orleans duo.

It’s also the first track from the upcoming The Holy Cross Tigers, the band’s third release of the year!

The Tubs just released its third album, Hard Life, and it’s a good one. These guys should be more popular with their infectious jangle-rock sound.

Lilly Seabird just released her album Lightspheres on Their Way in physical formats but you’ll have to wait until Oct. 2 before it hits the streaming services. It’s worth the wait, and is a really solid album.

Dummy just released two new songs, April Limousine and Alluvial Fan, ahead of the Oct. 16 release of the band’s latest album, do you love the color of the sky? Both songs are pretty chill and remind me of nights at the classic Chicago lounge Danny’s Tavern.

Some other notable releases in recent weeks include:

Dinosaur Jr.’s new album There Near. Dinosaur, over the past 21 years has been made up of the original classic lineup of Jay, Lou and Murph.

This new album opens with some songs that remind me of that amazing period of the late 1980s when these guys first started out and brought a new, distinct sound to the punk and post-punk scenes.

John Ross, who performs as Wild Pink, returns with a reliable mix of Americana and rock songs on Still Coming Down. I recommend giving it a listen.
