Metz guitarist Alex Edkins (pictured above) is now leading Weird Nightmare, a power-pop band that’s a lot fun.
Edkins released four singles ahead of the album, Hoopla, which is out Friday.
It’s a big departure from Metz, and I gotta say it’s pretty good.
Check out the songs Forever Elsewhere, Where I Belong, Pay No Mind and Might See You There. They’re all here and streaming.
The Notwist is back

I became intrigued with the Munich band the Notwist a dozen years ago.
What an interesting album these Germans made this year. News from Planet Zombie starts slow, revs up with some up-tempo indie rock and continues the cycle of fast and slow through 11 tracks.
I love the faster tunes X-Ray and Silver Lines.
This band, formed in the late ’80s, delivers an exceptional album.
Rosali has a new song

Rosali, one my favorite artists of 2024, has a new single, Other Side, that is really good. I am absolutely smitten with this North Carolina artist.
Here come the Tubs
Another one of my favorite artists in recent years, the Welsh band the Tubs, just joined Rosali on the legendary indie label Merge Records.
To mark the occasion, the Tubs released Fade to Black, a cover of the Metallica song. It’s Metallica with a jangle-pop rock influence.
I look forward to more music from these incredible artists.
